‘Why always me?!’ is a phrase that sounds familiar to many of us. We constantly believe that we are the only ones that have bad luck. For others, everything seems to fall in place. Well, the truth is that you do not always see the misfortune of others. Even very successful people have had their struggles in life. You just do not always hear about them. It is a fact that everyone has dealt with misfortune. Try to focus on the blessings you have as they will always outweigh the misfortunes.

You must realise that if you are reading this quote on a laptop or a mobile phone that you are very blessed to have these devices. And that is not where your current blessings stop. More than half of the world’s population does not have access to internet. The fact that you can access this quote means that you are one of the lucky ones. In addition, almost 20% of this planet’s inhabitants cannot read. Being able to read and having a device with internet access seems so natural to us. It is good to reflect from time to time and realise that you are very lucky and should be happy about it.

Charles Dickens was an English writer who lived during the 19th century. Dickens is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. He wrote several famous novels such as Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities. Dickens’ content was particularly known for its realism and social criticism. Children’s rights and education were close to his heart.  His last wish was not respected as he was burried in the Poet’s Corner of Westminster Abbey while he wanted an unostentatious funeral at Rochester Cathedral.
